Wastewater phosphorus removal
Poseidon Pellets capture phosphate from municipal and industrial wastewater. Water passes through a contained media bed, bringing phosphate into contact with the pellets.
A tertiary treatment step
A media bed can provide phosphorus removal after secondary treatment and before disinfection. Upflow or downflow filtration depends on the treatment train, available space, and hydraulic conditions.
Water Warriors is currently involved with projects in the US and within the UK AMP8 investment period.
Size the system around your water
Start with normal and peak flow, inlet phosphate, the required outlet target, water chemistry, and available space. Contact time and media volume affect performance. Testing on site water helps establish usable capacity and replacement timing.
Phosphate and phosphorus use different units
Check whether laboratory results report phosphorus as P or phosphate as PO4. One milligram of P corresponds to approximately 3.07 milligrams of PO4. Keep the same basis when comparing inlet concentration, outlet targets, and media capacity.
From treatment to nutrient recovery
Developed through collaboration with the U.S. EPA under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement, Poseidon Pellets connect phosphate capture with nutrient recovery. Used media can be evaluated for reuse as a slow-release soil amendment or fertilizer. Suitability depends on source water, media testing, and local requirements.
